KEYS LOCKED IN THE TRUNK

Keys in the trunk in Brampton?

Say “the keys are in the trunk” at the start of the call. A door lockout and access to a secured trunk can be different problems.

TWO DIFFERENT ACCESS QUESTIONS

A door open. Keys still out of reach?

01 / CABIN ENTRY

The passenger area

Opening a door gives access to the cabin. The trunk may still be secured separately.

02 / TRUNK ACCESS

The compartment with the keys

Explain that you need the keys reached in the trunk. The vehicle’s design determines what is possible.

Opening a door may not be enough.

The provider needs to establish whether cabin access will actually let them reach the keys. Vehicle security settings, a separate trunk lock and rear-seat access can change the assessment. Do not assume that an unlocked door guarantees an open trunk.

Give the exact make, model and year. Mention any rear-seat access or trunk-release behaviour you already know about. It is fine to say you do not know; you do not need to test or dismantle anything.

Describe what you can observe.

  • Are you certain the keys are in the trunk, or might they be somewhere else?
  • Is the cabin locked too, or can you already get inside?
  • Is a spare key available, and is it a remote or a separate mechanical key?
  • Are there child seats, luggage or other practical restrictions the provider needs to know about?

There is no need to dismantle trim, force seats or probe a lock to answer these questions.

Make the quote match the actual problem.

Ask whether the proposed price covers reaching the keys in the trunk, rather than only opening a door. Confirm what you would owe if the provider can open the cabin but cannot access the trunk, or needs a different service.

If the keys may be missing rather than locked inside, explain that first. Entry alone will not solve a lost-key problem.

Give the parking details as well.

For a car in Brampton, provide an address or nearest intersection, followed by the parking lot, level and entrance. A shopping centre name or “at the GO station” alone may leave the provider looking in the wrong place.

Use the Brampton location guide and ask the provider to confirm the exact place, service scope and arrival estimate before agreeing to a visit.
